TOMSK, Dec 20 – RIA Tomsk. Two graduates of department of
meteorology and climatology of Faculty of Geology and Geography of Tomsk State University (GGF TSU) were among experts who will prepare weather forecasts at
the World Universiade, which will take place in 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, the press
service of the university reports on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that the
XXIX World winter Universiade will take place in Krasnoyarsk in March, 2019.
More than 3 thousand young athletes from 50 countries will participate in the
games. Athletes will award 76 sets of medals in 11 sports.
It is noted in the message of TSU
that observation of meteoconditions is mandatory requirement at the
organization of sporting events in the open air.
"Graduates of department of
meteorology and climatology of GGF TSU Igor Krivosheyev and Anjelica Kostornaya
were selected and included in the number of experts who will provide detailed
weather forecasts for athletes and the judiciary at the World Universiade-2019
in Krasnoyarsk", – it is said in the statement.
According to TSU, the meteocenters,
which will give an exact weather forecast with three-hour frequency, will work
at each of open sporting venues of the Universiade.
The task of meteorologists is
weather assessment at the venue of competitions. They will fix the route
temperature, visibility conditions, probability of rainfall and wind gusts, to
give warnings of adverse meteoconditions. The obtained data will allow judges
of competitions to consider risks of influence of weather conditions on results
of athletes and to make the decision on start or transfer of competitions.
