TOMSK, Jul 20 – RIA Tomsk, Vadim Belozertsev. A trainee of Tomsk school of finswimming, student of Tomsk Polytechnic University Dmitrii Zhurman won three gold and one silver medals of the World Finswimming Championship in Serbia; according to the results of the competition Zhurman was recognized as the best sportsman among men, the press service of the regional administration said on Friday.

Earlier it was reported that the World Finswimming Championship in 2018 takes place in the capital Serbia - Belgrade. The Tomsk region is represented by four sportsmen: Dmitry Zhurman, Alena Parshina, Elizaveta Borisova and Yulia Bryndina.

"In the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, ended the World Finswimming Championship, which was attended by athletes from 38 countries. <...> The trainee of Tomsk Center of Water Sports named after V. A. Shevelev, Honoured Master of Sports Dmitrii Zhurman ... became the best sportsman among men - in his piggy bank there are three gold and one silver medals", – is said in the statement.

It is added that at the closing ceremony of the competition, the organizer of the 20th World Championship - the president of the Serbian underwater federation Bojana Ostozhich - solemnly handed over the flag of the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) to the representative of the organizers of the next championship - to the President of Underwater Sports Federation of Tomsk region Natalia Grechikhina.

Earlier it was reported that in 2017 Tomsk hosted the 15th CMAS Finswimming World Junior Championships. About 300 junior sportsmen from 25 countries participated in the competitions. In April 2018, the World Underwater Federation (CMAS) supported the application of the Tomsk region to hold in Tomsk in 2020 the CMAS Finswimming World Championships 2020.
