TOMSK, Aug 28 – RIA Tomsk. The first defense of the thesis for the PhD TSU degree was held at Tomsk State University; a young scientist from India, graduate of the post-graduate department of the historical faculty on defense presented a work on the features of US-Indian relations, the press service of the university said on Tuesday.
It is specified that in TSU since 2014 seven postgraduate programs in English are being implemented – PhD-programs, at which study foreign post-graduate students from Bulgaria, Holland, Pakistan, India, Algeria and China. By their request was made the decision of the Academic Council in 2016 to form and introduc its own system of awarding the degree of PhD TSU.
"Supret Singh Sethi became the first graduate student in TSU to whom the University's Academic Council will award a PhD TSU with issue of the diploma of a university sample. He defended his thesis on "The importance of India in the "US turn to Asia" (2011-2017)"... The members of the council recognized the work as worthy and voted for the award of the degree", – is said in the report.
According to the university, the first defense of the thesis for obtaining a PhD TSU degree in the historical sciences was held on the eve, on August 27. The young scientist analyzed the importance of India for US policy in the Afghan-Pakistani and Asian-Pacific regions. Its scientific adviser is the associate professor Alexey Timoshenko.
"This is the next step of TSU with our gradual entry into the international education system, this means that we can not only train bachelors and masters among foreign students, but also postgraduates who can defend both candidate's theses by our standards and do work on Anglo-Saxon system of training", – the professor, the chairman of the council for PhD-theses protection Vasily Zinoviev is quoted.
It is added that by the end of 2018, two more PhD theses are planned at TSU – in sociology and in chemical sciences.
