TOMSK, Jun 9 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk photographer Sergey Medvedchikov got the second place in a prestigious international photo contest Lensculture Street Photography Awards-2019; he submitted a series of photos about Siberia to jury, it is reported on the contest website.
"We announced a global contest to find and mark out
photographers who define the modern street photo today... The second
place – the Russian Federation, Sergey Medvedchikov, "Hidden in Siberia"

As Medvedchikov told RIA
Tomsk, Lensculture is one of the most mass and known platforms which
holds several contests in a year. Lensculture Street Photography Awards
is one of them where experts in the field of the street-photo and others
gather. Sergey presented 10 works from the Tomsk project, which lasts
since 2012.
"Ten works are an extract from the big project "Hidden
in Siberia". Pictures are taken in Tomsk in different years. The street
photo in such documentary section about a person and his relationship
with the city. This is a local history or visual anthropology of its own
kind, shooting everyday reality", – he commented.

The
photographer added that three years ago he was among finalists of
Lensculture Street Photography Awards, but did not become the winner.
This year works of the resident of Tomsk, which led him to the victory,
will be presented at exhibitions and large international festivals.
"The
exhibition in New York is planned, works of all winners will be
presented there. Next year the book with the best works will be
published. Plus to all this Lensculture will monthly carry exhibitions
and arrange displays for all year, in a year – tens of leading
photofestivals", – the resident of Tomsk told.
Medvedchikov was
born in Tomsk, worked and lived in other cities, since 2012 is based in
the hometown. He is known in the professional environment not only as a
photographer, but also as a teacher: over the last 10 years he organizes
phototours and workshops in different parts of the world.
