TOMSK, Sep 4 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Kemerovo region agreed on
cooperation on the created Research and Educational Center (REC) of the world
level "Kuzbass", agreement on joint development of knowledge
intensive technology was signed at the fifth Eastern Economic Forum in
Vladivostok, the press service of the university said on Wednesday.
It was previously reported that by 2024 at least 15
world-class RECs should be created in the Russian Federation based on the
integration of universities, scientific organizations and enterprises in the
real sector of the economy. According to the website of the administration of
the Kemerovo region, the region entered the top five pilot regions. REC
"Kuzbass" will be focused on projects in the fields of mining,
transport and ecology.
According to the press service, the TPU delegation
takes part in the fifth Eastern Economic Forum, which opened on Wednesday,
September 4, in Vladivostok. On the first day of the forum, the acting rector
Petr Chubik and the governor of the Kemerovo region Sergey Tsivilev signed an
agreement on cooperation within the framework of the "Kuzbass"
world-class REC created in the neighboring region.
"The agreement signed today between Tomsk
Polytechnic University and the government of the Kemerovo region involves
cooperation and assistance in the implementation of projects of the "Kuzbass"
world-class Research and Educational Center in terms of social, economic and
innovative development", – is said in the statement.
It is clarified that this is about cooperation in the
development of knowledge intensive technology in the field of exploration,
efficient mining, transportation and deep processing of solid minerals, mining,
integrated water resources management in river basins, production of
environmentally friendly energy while reducing anthropogenic pressure on the
environment.

scientific, educational and technological cohesion of the country's regions ...
The REC project - is a project for the whole country. We have a polytechnic
university, we have many competencies, and they will be enough for both the
Tomsk REC and the Kuzbass "REC", – the press service quotes Chubik.
Earlier it was also reported that TPU will become one
of the key participants in the "Big University" project, initiated by
the authorities of the Tomsk region to win the competition for the creation of
REC. The selection of regions at the level of the Ministry of Education and
Science of the Russian Federation will take place in 2020.

project
Currently the "Science" national project is
being implemented in the Russian Federation. Its key goals - are to ensure the
presence of the Russian Federation among the five leading countries of the
world engaged in research and development in areas defined by the priorities of
the scientific and technological revolution, ensuring the attractiveness of
work in the Russian Federation for leading Russian and foreign scientists,
increasing domestic spending on research and development.
It
includes three projects: "Development of scientific and
scientific-industrial cooperation", "Development of advanced
infrastructure for research and development in the Russian Federation" and
"Development of human resources in the field of research and
development".
