TOMSK, Mar 13 –
RIA Tomsk. All-Russian forum
"Cardiology of the XXI Century: Alliances and Potential", which was
supposed to be held in Tomsk in April, was postponed to the end of 2020 due to
the coronavirus epidemic, is reported on the official website of the event with
reference to the chairman of the forum, director of the Tomsk Cardiology
Research Institute Sergey Popov.
According to the
website, the Second All-Russian Scientific and Educational Forum with
international participation "Cardiology of the XXI Century: Alliances and
Potential" was to be held in Tomsk on April 23-24, 2020.
"The staff
of the Cardiology Research Institute of the Tomsk National Research Medical
Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences realizing the high responsibility for
the health and life of people, and with the goal of organizing a high-level
event, decided to postpone the dates (of the forum) to the 4th quarter of
2020", – Popov is quoted on the website.
According to the
academician, the postponement of the event is associated with the outbreak of
coronavirus infection COVID-19, which was declared a pandemic by the World
Health Organization on March 11, 2020. The exact date of the event will depend
on the epidemiological situation in the world.
"Mass
events are not recommended in all countries affected by the infection,
including Russia. The restrictions imposed on the movement of foreign citizens
will inevitably lead to a change in the Forum program, which had previously
been seriously reduced due to the non-working day of voting on April 22", –
he added.
It was
previously reported that an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new type of
coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was recorded in Wuhan, China, in late December. The
disease is called COVID-19. According to Izvestia, the total number of infected
with the new coronavirus COVID-19 in the world continues to grow and as of
March 13 reached 131 621 people. At the same time, 4940 people died, and more
than 68.5 thousand people recovered.
