TOMSK, Aug 31 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) held a summer language school on intensive Russian language training for students from Nigeria, China, Laos, Ecuador, Egypt, Iraq, Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia; for the first time it was held in a remote format, the press service of the university reported on Monday.

It is specified that the school was organized on the basis of the TSU Faculty of Philology. Its goal – is the linguistic and cultural adaptation of foreign applicants and students, including those who are not currently in Russia.

"It was attended by 48 people from Nigeria, China, Laos, Ecuador, Egypt, Iraq, Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia. Most of the students were just preparing for their first academic year at TSU. But some undergraduate and graduate students who wish to tighten up their knowledge in the field of the Russian language by the beginning of classes", – says the message.

It is added that the listeners were divided into groups in accordance with the level of Russian language proficiency – A2, A2 +, B1 and B2. Their workload included visiting two couples a day on the Zoom platform and doing homework.

"TSU Faculty of Philology has a lot of experience in conducting summer language schools for foreigners, but for the first time the school is being held remotely. Interactive learning aids have greatly helped", – the school's teacher Yulia Rudikova is quoted in the message.

According to the press service, during the academic year, students will continue to study Russian at the TSU campus courses. The school was organized within the framework of the project "Formation of language competencies in the field of Russian language among foreign students of Tomsk State University".
