TOMSK, Sep 2 – RIA Tomsk. The number of applicants admitted to Tomsk State University (TSU) on the state-funded places increased in 2020 by 25% compared to the previous admission campaign; among the most popular areas - foreign regional studies, design and economics, the press service of the university said on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that in 2020, due to the danger of the spread of a new coronavirus infection, applications and documents for admission to universities, including TSU, were submitted online, almost all entrance tests were also conducted on electronic platforms.
It is specified that TSU summed up the results of the admissions campaign of 2020: university employees processed online more than 30 thousand applications from 10 thousand applicants for 2.8 thousand state-funded places.
"The admission campaign, for obvious reasons, was very difficult - everything took place exclusively in a remote format. <...> Our number of applications grew by almost 30% and the number of applicants increased by 25%. Here we must thank both the faculties and the admissions committee - everything worked very well ", - the press service quotes the head of the TSU new recruitment department Evgeny Pavlov.
It is added that the most popular areas among TSU applicants are jurisprudence, economics, international relations, foreign regional studies, software engineering, design and journalism.
"The competition for foreign regional studies turned out to be the maximum for the university - 64 applications for one state-funded place (last year - 37 applications for one place). The second most popular was design - 34 applications for a place. The leaders are also economy (26 applications for a place) and IT directions (from 12 to 22 applications for one place)", - reports the press service.
In master's degree programs the highest competition this year for the specialty "Intellectual and Digital Rights" of the Institute of Law - 29 people for one place, the report noted.
