TOMSK, Sep 22 – RIA Tomsk. TSU together with partners launch a free online course on the practice of interpretation and translation in October; the program will be useful for current translators, linguists, as well as students, director of the Center for the Development and Support of Online Courses of the Institute of Distance Education of TSU Darya Maslova told RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that Tomsk State University (TSU) won a competition for grants funded from the federal budget for the development of online courses in the humanities. Within the framework of the grant, several programs are being developed, including courses related to foreign languages.
"The course "Practice of Interpretation and Translation" is very rich in practice. The launch of the course is scheduled for October 1, 2020 on the online learning platform Stepik.org and will be fully open and available free of charge. Sign up for the course is also at this link from October 1", - Maslova said.

According to her, the industrial partners of TSU participated in the creation of the course: translation agencies Palex (Tomsk), AUM (Novosibirsk), Mont Blanc company, which implements an online platform for simultaneous translation.
"Representatives of these companies acted as lecturers and shared their best practices in the format of video and textual additional materials. At the same time, the excellent teaching staff of TSU kept the frame of correct high-quality academicism, structuring practice from business and framing it with theory", - the agency's interlocutor added.
She emphasized that the course will be useful for both linguistic students and current specialists.
"The theoretical foundations of the study of foreign languages are universal, there are examples of different languages. The practice of interpretation and translation is based on English", - Maslova clarified.
