TOMSK, Nov 19 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) hold a forum "University City: Digital vs Real Communities and Spaces" on its online platform in December; up to half a thousand experts from Brazil, the USA, China, Japan, Russia and European countries are expected to participate, the head of the organizing committee of the event Lyudmila Borilo told RIA Tomsk.
As specified on the university website, the first international forum of university cities took place in 2016. The 2020 Forum will be the fifth in a row and will focus on the challenges that digital transformation poses for modern education and science. Forum dates - December 2-4. The organizers are TSU, the regional administration, the French Embassy in Russia and the Consulate General of Germany in Novosibirsk.
"All events are online. We expect up to 500 people. These are participants from different parts of the world: from Russia, Brazil, USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Poland, Sweden, Italy, Czech Republic, China and Japan. Universities and institutes, international and government organizations will be represented", - Borilo said.

According to the forum's website, its participants will discuss new opportunities and challenges for higher education, digital inequality, ethics of research and breakthrough personified technologies. Discussions will focus on how the university, city and region must change in order to successfully integrate into the global economy.
"In the face of new challenges, the university city is forced to master both real and virtual spaces. Adapting urban communities and spaces to new conditions is a common task of the city and the university. Their cooperation is the key to success in global competition", - report the organizers of the forum.
