TOMSK, Apr 28 – RIA Tomsk. Governor
Sergey Zhvachkin on Wednesday extended the restriction regime due to
COVID-19 in the Tomsk region until May 31; in his opinion, the region is
forced to maintain a number of restrictions until the population has a
collective immunity from coronavirus, reports the press service of the
regional administration.
Earlier it was reported that a
high alert regime was introduced in the Tomsk region on March 31, 2020
to contain the spread of a new coronavirus infection, the last time it
was extended until April 30. Mass vaccination in the region began in
January 2021. Vaccine shipments are irregular, which is why the campaign
even had to be suspended in mid-March. The authorities expect to
complete vaccinations in the region in the fall.
According to the press service, on April 28, the governor extended the regime of restrictions in the region until May 31.
"More
than 43 thousand residents of the Tomsk region have already delivered
both components of the coronavirus vaccine, almost half are people over
60 years old. The vaccination campaign will continue on the May
holidays, so that even more people get vaccinated. But until the
collective immunity from coronavirus is formed, we are forced to
maintain a number of restrictions," – Zhvachkin is quoted.
It
is noted that for the period of the regime, the regional operational
headquarters, headed by the governor, recommends that all organizations
abandon leisure and entertainment events with the direct presence of
citizens, including the provision of services in crowded places.
Employers should ensure sanitary safety at workplaces and control over
the well-being of their employees, if possible – transfer part of the
team to remote work.
"The headquarters also reminds that
in accordance with the decree of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the
Russian Federation, wearing hygienic masks to protect the respiratory
organs in places of mass stay of people, in public transport, taxis, in
parking lots, in elevators is mandatory on the territory of all regions
of Russia," – says the message.
Earlier it was reported that
as of April 27, 32,052 people were infected with a new coronavirus
