TOMSK, Sep 11 – RIA Tomsk. More than 190 universities apply for participation in the new program of support Priority 2030 from the Russian Minobrnauki, consideration of applications has started in Moscow, the first from Tomsk was the team of Tomsk State University (TSU), headed by Rector Eduard Galazhinsky, the press service of the university reported.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation will start the program of support of universities Priority 2030 in 2021. In the first stage, 120 universities will be selected to receive additional funding. TSU has identified five areas in the application: "Engineering Biology", "Global Earth Change", "Sociohuman Engineering", "Security Technologies" and "Open Ecosystem of Knowledge and Technology Generation - Big Tomsk University".

"The defense of the roadmaps started on September 10. There are 191 institutions of higher education, among them five universities from Tomsk - participants of the Big University. Tomsk State University was the first university from Tomsk to present its program to the competition commission," the report says.

Rector Eduard Galazhinsky defended the application to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. According to the press service, among the strategic objectives that TSU has set for itself over the next 10 years is the creation of the hub "Engineering Biology 2.0", Center for Human Life Design, Institute of Future Food, Center for Evaluation and Prediction of the Carbon Cycle and several other projects. It is noted that for each of them the university already has a serious scientific groundwork.

"For us in the new step of development, it is important to keep four key frameworks in which we have structured our program. The first one is the logic of the "breakthrough university", where the key gap is related to the actualization of the frontier scientific agenda and the installation of new tasks that come from new markets. This is a big challenge for us, and we open new scientific directions for it," the rector told reporters after the defense.

He added that the second "framework" is metadisciplinarity of science and education, the third framework is sustainable development of quality of life, and the fourth is ecosystems, which "allows through combining resources to solve ambitious problems and respond to big challenges".

It was also reported that besides TSU, four more Tomsk universities applied for participation in the program: Polytechnic University (TPU), State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR), Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) and State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB). In total, the applications list 17 key areas of development, in the development of which the universities intend to use each other's potential.
