Sibaircraft plans to build a new airfield in the Tomsk region

TOMSK, Oct 8 - RIA Tomsk, Alexander Mazurov. Sibaircraft is trying to lease an airstrip in the village of Bakchar; the site will become a new backbone of the Taiga project for drone cargo delivery to remote areas of the Tomsk region, Sibaircraft CEO Vladislav Levchugov said.

Earlier it was reported that the Taiga project for cargo delivery by drones (UAVs) has been implemented in the Tomsk region since 2018. In 2019, implementation of the project slowed down due to a number of legal restrictions and lack of infrastructure base. The first site for UAV launches was Sibaircraft's Chkalov airfield, and there are also plans to adapt sites in in Kolpashevo, Bakchar, Kargasok and Kedrovy for UAVs.

"Right now we are trying to lease an airstrip in the village of Bakchar. We plan to lease the land and make aviation infrastructure on it. Right now there is only an old Soviet runway. As soon as we receive a document authorizing us to use the land, we will start work immediately," Levchugov said.

According to him, Sibaircraft is now negotiating with the owners of other aircraft sites and airfields in the Tomsk region to operate them within the framework of a unified network - this will increase the efficiency of small aircraft in the region.
