TOMSK, Oct 3 – RIA Tomsk. The British Times Higher Education (THE) published an annual ranking of the world's leading universities in the Arts & Humanities direction; Tomsk State University (TSU) entered the group 201-250, maintaining the previously reached position, the press service of the university reported on Thursday.
According to the press service, THE British analytical publication presented the ranking of the world's leading universities in the direction Arts & Humanities. These are universities that train specialists in art, languages, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology.
"TSU confirmed its high positions... As last year, we joined the group 201-250. The classical university, which has a 140-year history and rich traditions, is strong in the humanities. The high position in the ranking is the result of the constant work of the team of TSU and reengineering of the educational process", – the comment of the rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky is given in the message.
In support of Galazhinsky's words, the press service lists successful projects of the university in the field of Arts & Humanity. In particular, it is the Higher School of Journalism, which received international accreditation and became the first in the Russian Federation, in whose assessment experts from China took part. Also the project of linguists of the university is noted, who solve the tasks of automatic analysis of natural language."The "reassembled" historical faculty, which was joined by political scientists, contributes to the university’s high position. Thus, the TSU faculty of historical and political sciences developed an alternative history course, in which students not only gain basic knowledge, but also ... learn to determine what information is true, and which one is fake in the Internet", – the press service notes.
Earlier it was also reported that TSU retained its positions in the general ranking of the leading universities of the world according to THE in 2019, having joined the group 501-600. TSU is located on the fifth line in the Russian part of the ranking.
