31 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) opened a center "Science about Siberia in Siberia" on the basis of which scientists of the higher education institution of different directions will be engaged in studying of Siberia, and in particular - its economies, history, ethnography, urban studies, language, the press service of the HEI reports on Monday.
"The
Mission of the center is involvement of Siberia in world development and
involvement of the world in development of Siberia. The center has to become a
uniform information resource, an accumulator and a source of information on
Siberia in the different directions of science, on the other hand, a platform
for communication of teachers, museum workers, for organization of joint
scientific researches", – it is told in the message.
It is
specified that seven main directions are allocated so far in work of the
center: sciences about Earth and ecology, history, archeology and ethnography,
economy, human science and health science, language and culture, materials and
technologies, urban studies, media and design.

It is
reported that the working group headed by TSU scientist is created on each of
the directions. "Governing body is council under the chairmanship of the
TSU rector professor Eduard Galazhinsky. The leading Russian and foreign
scientists, including three Nobel laureates, representatives of regional
administration, deputies became part of it", – the press service
specifies.
"Creation
of such center is, first of all, work for the future. <…> (We) need to
think how to grow up new research teams, to connect humanities to this
process", – the press service of the TSU scientific secretary quotes
Lyudmila Borilo. The emphasis in the work of the center will be placed on
scientific researches of historians, philologists, archeologists, economists.
It is
specified that within the center the carrying out of projects competitions is
planned, groups of TSU scientists with involvement of the leading foreign and
Russian experts will be able to take part in it. "Requirements for
participants will be not really rigid, the main thing is relevance of the
planned researches and their value for development of knowledge about
Siberia", – is specified in release.
