TOMSK, Oct 28 – RIA Tomsk. Creation of the first Russian trial production of metal beryllium and its connections on the Siberian Chemical Plant (SCP) of Rosatom in the city of Seversk of Tomsk region is estimated at 1,55 billion rubles, TASS reports on Wednesday.
It was reported earlier that scientists of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) by request of Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation develop domestic technology of receiving beryllium with SCP. At the end of 2014 experts for the first time in Russia managed to receive the first laboratory consignment of this metal. Now beryllium is made only in three countries: Kazakhstan, China and the USA which work on vitriolic technology.
"(Near) 1,55 billion rubles are funds of the state contract with Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, industrial partners, subprogrammes "Development of the industry of rare and rare-earth metals" of the state program "Development of the Industry and Increase of Its Competitiveness", – agency writes, referring to materials of the regional administration.
It is supposed that production on the 30 tons of fluoride technology on metal beryllium per year will be started in 2020. It has to provide almost completely the Russian needs for this strategic metal which are now fulfilled only for 20%.
SCP, TPU, and also the Rare Metals of Siberia Company are initiators of the creation of the production. The project is declared as a resident of the territory of the advancing development created in Seversk.
Beryllium is applied in the nuclear, space industry, mechanical engineering, in X-ray engineering, by production of laser and fire-resistant materials, at creation of rocket fuel. Metal is used generally as an additive to alloys that allows to increase their hardness and durability considerably.
