TOMSK, 27 Sep – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) become the second of the Russian universities (along with MSU) to join the Kazakhstan project of the International Scientific Complex (ISC) "Astana"; Petr Chubik, the TPU rector, held negotiations with the project management in the capital of Kazakhstan Astana, the press service of the university said on Thursday.
According to the press service, ISC "Astana" – is the project initiated by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to create in the capital of the republic the international university of a new generation, oriented to the best educational practices and promising applied research from all around the world. The leading universities of China, the United States, Great Britain, and Malaysia already cooperate with ISC.
It is reported that Chubik on the invitation of the scientific director of the ISC "Astana", Marat Shaikhutdinov, visited the Republic of Kazakhstan (RK), where he discussed the possibility of TPU entry to the international project.
"TPU became the second Russian university, along with Moscow State University, invited to participate in this large-scale international project ... Following the results of business meetings were identified priority areas for cooperation ... These are the key educational programs (master courses) and promising scientific developments of the university in such areas as: "Digital environment", "Space", "Peaceful atom" and "Ecology", – is said in the report.
It is noted that the directions of cooperation were determined after the negotiations of the TPU rector with the leaders of the Astana International University and the National Academy of Sciences, as well as officials of the republican level: Secretary of the Security Council of the RK, Minister of Education and Science, Deputy Defense Minister, and also Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry.
