TOMSK, Nov 26 – RIA Tomsk. Employees of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) together with Rosatom Technical Academy developed and conducted an English-language advanced training course for scientists and teachers from Zambia, Nigeria, Egypt, Serbia and Bolivia, the press service of the university reported on Monday.
Earlier it was reported that in 2013 the Tomsk Polytechnic University and Rosatom signed a strategic agreement on a long-term partnership. TPU – is the only higher education institution in Russia, whose foreign students can perform laboratory work at the operating research nuclear reactor. In addition, the university provides foreign students with the opportunity to practice at existing nuclear facilities of Rosatom.
"Tomsk Polytechnic University in together with Rosatom Technical Academy developed and conducted a course of advanced training programs for scientific and pedagogical workers from the partner countries of the Rosatom State Corporation - Zambia, Nigeria, Egypt, Serbia and Bolivia. The name of the program is - "Research reactors and cyclotrons. Application, infrastructure, educational programs", – is said in the statement.
It is noted that within the framework of the course, teachers and nuclear scientists of TPU gave lecturers about radiation safety when using sources of ionizing radiation, about ensuring the physical protection of radioactive substances, about the principles of operation of cyclotrons for various purposes and their applications. In addition, the program participants studied the characteristics of the cyclotron R7M of TPU, its use in nuclear medicine.

“This is the first experience in the history of nuclear education in organizing and conducting the international English-language advanced training course for foreign students using the unique scientific facilities of the university in the educational process”, – the press service quotes the head of the course Vera Verkhoturova.
Foreign listeners have mastered the methodology of practical training and laboratory for students on the operating cyclotron, the main directions of the use of research nuclear reactors, the fundamentals of nuclear safety, as well as nuclear-physical methods of analysis, is emphasized in the message of the university.
Earlier it was also reported that in 2018 TPU scientists conducted a training course on safety ensuring in the operation of facilities for employees of the Center for Nuclear Research and Technology being built in Bolivia.
