TOMSK, Mar 5 – RIA Tomsk. The Vice-Rector for Innovation of Tomsk State University (TSU) Konstantin Belyakov left his post, he remain at the university in the position of advisor to the administration, his position will be abolished; as Belyakov himself told RIA Tomsk on Tuesday, in the new status he will be able to help university projects as a businessman and mentor.

"Since March, I have not been working as the Vice-Rector for Innovation of Tomsk State University (TSU), but I remain in the position of adviser to the university administration (for innovations). The decision was made by mutual agreement. A primary place of my employment is "Elecard-Med", which develops high-tech solutions for automation of medical processes. I'm a co-founder of this company, but I paid little attention to it because of employment", – Belyakov said.

He clarified that the position of Vice-Rector for Innovation has been abolished, and the innovation management will continue to be engaged in the commercialization of developments at the university.

"We will continue to engage in strategic projects, such as the "TSU campus map", projects of the TSU Venture Fund. But now, returning to the status of a businessman, I will be able to support promising projects with money and mentoring and options, without regard for affiliation", – the interlocutor noted.

In the post of the Vice-Rector for Innovation of Tomsk State University (TSU) Konstantin Belyakov worked for 2.5 years. According to him, in such a short time it was not possible to launch a massive commercialization of university developments, but successful cases were implemented. For example, airprobe – a technology for assessing, mapping and cleaning oil-contaminated bottom sediments, scientists are developing this project together with attracted businessmen and investors.

“The largest raw materials companies – "Gazprom", "Lukoil", "Samotlorneftegaz" became consumers of this service. In general, I believe that we, together with the administration of the Tomsk region, managed to attract to TSU federal investors and private investors. At every corner we said that in Tomsk scientists are not afraid to work, to try, to err, and, in the end, to achieve a result. And we have been heard", – says Belyakov.
