TOMSK, May 6 – RIA Tomsk. Development of new industries will help the Tomsk region to take a
leading position in the process of digital transformation of the Russian
economy and become an important element of the so-called “digital
Trans-Siberian Railway”, considers the rector of Tomsk State University (TSU)
Eduard Galazhinsky.
On Monday, May 6, Galazhinsky answered questions from
journalists at the RIA Tomsk media center about the university’s participation
in Skoltech’s "Island 10-22" intensive school. Earlier it was reported that
TSU, as well as TPU, TSUAB and TUSUR were included in hundreds of universities
invited to the training intensive. Its goal – is to create teams of regional
universities that can make changes in training for the digital economy.
"It is about how new technologies can transform
both mature and new industries. And in this sense Tomsk relies on the formation
of new industries. These technologies are connected with big data analysis,
artificial intelligence, Internet of things, complemented by virtual reality,
cybersecurity", – Galazhinsky said.
He added that at present the Tomsk region is faced the
task of deciding with which industrial partners the region can develop a "digit" in the economy.
"Let me remind you the expression of our governor that
the "digital Trans-Siberian Railway" should not pass by Tomsk. In fact, today a
new Transsib is being formed, and our common task is to understand which "stations" it will consist of, with which industrial partners we can work.
Tomsk has got some backlogs, there are a lot of discussions, for example, cloud
storage is being discussed with Rosatom", – the rector explained.
Earlier, the governor of the Tomsk region Sergei
Zhvachkin said that in the region the diversification of the economy is carried
out by increasing the share of the scientific and educational complex,
contribution of high-tech business, manufacturing and agriculture, which have
shown stability in difficult economic conditions.
