TOMSK, Oct 16 –
RIA Tomsk. Teachers of the Faculty of Geology and Geography
of Tomsk State University (GGF TSU) will train students at University of
Pattimura (Indonesia), which with TSU assistance should become the main
training ground for Indonesian geologists; Indonesian masters and postgraduate
students will study at TSU, the university’s press service said Wednesday.
According to the
press service, the details of interaction with University of Pattimura during a
working visit to Ambon city were discussed by the TSU Vice-Rector for
International Affairs Artyom Rykun and the Dean of GGF TSU Platon Tishin.
"During the
visit we agreed that masters and postgraduate students will come to study at
TSU ... In addition, our teachers will give lectures at University of
Pattimura, as well as provide advice to Indonesian colleagues", – the
press service quoted Tishin as saying.
It is specified
that University of Pattimura, with the assistance of TSU, will open a mining
and geological faculty, and in the academic year 2020/2021 teachers of Faculty
of Geology and Geography of Tomsk State University (GGF TSU) will begin
training of Indonesian students. It is planned to implement programs in
geology, geophysics, oil, petrochemistry and mining. In addition to training
students, there is a need to improve the skills of specialists already working
in Indonesia.

It is noted that
TSU is also interested in conducting research in Indonesia, in particular in
studying the processes of formation of carbonate formations, which contain oil
and gas deposits, as well as tectonic processes. To conduct such studies, a TSU
research station can be organized.
"The
province of Molucco, where University of Pattimura is located, is interesting
with the fact that there was recently discovered the largest oil field in the
region, which is located at sea. There are deposits of solid minerals on the
islands. The problem is that having rich natural resources, the country cannot
master them because of the low level of development of geology", – explains
Tishin.
