Stephen King allowed Tomsk schoolgirl to film his story

TOMSK, Feb 8 – RIA Tomsk. Young Tomsk director Diana Kostyrina signed a contract with Stephen King to film one of his stories on the Dollar Baby program; the short film can be seen in the fall of 2020 in Krasnodar at the annual international Dollar Baby Russia festival, Kostyrina told RIA Tomsk.

The interlocutor of the agency said that she is 16 years old, she is studying at Lyceum No. 7. In the cinema sphere for about four years – first as an actress, and then as a director. Currently, Kostyrina is the author of several short films that can be found on the Internet.

"(I will screen a story by Stephen King) "The Woman in the Room". A short film of up to 40 minutes will be obtained, it is written under the terms of this contract. We will shoot together with the "Siberian Сinema Workshops" cinema club, we want to change the ending a bit, make it more optimistic, so that there isn’t such a heavy residue that remains after reading the story", – she said.

Kostyrina added that now she and the head of the "Siberian Сinema Workshops" cinema club, Roman Dvaladze, the producer of the film, are negotiating with one famous actor, whose name is kept secret. There is also a search for candidates for the main female role.

She also said that she was able to sign a contract with the writer thanks to Dollar Baby – this is an American program under which King shares his copyright with schoolchildren from all over the world for a year. The girl sent an application, a portfolio, and literally a day later a positive answer came. Her film will participate in the international Dollar Baby Russia festival in the fall of 2020 in Krasnodar.

"Usually they (the organizers of the festival) respond for more than a month, and here we successfully hit: Sunday is a working day in America. And the letter didn’t go anywhere, it didn’t get into spam. There’s some luck and probably exotic too, like in Siberia they’re filming movies too. Only one application could be sent from one city. There are only a few cases there – not everyone (King) gives permission", – Dviladze told RIA Tomsk.
