TOMSK, Sep 2 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) retained its position in the prestigious global university ranking according to the British publication Times Higher Education (THE), demonstrating growth in Teaching and Research, the press service of the university told RIA Tomsk on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that on Wednesday, September 2, were published the results of THE World University Rankings - one of the most influential in the world. For the first time, three Tomsk universities were included in it at once: in addition to TSU and Tomsk Polytechnic, experts evaluated the achievements of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics. Of the Tomsk universities, the classical one has the best result - TSU is included in the 501-600 group, among Russian it is included in the group that occupies the 6th place.
"TSU strengthened its positions in two key areas: Teaching and Research. According to these indicators, the state university entered the top 200 and top 300 strongest universities in the world. In total, the rankings analyzed the activities of 1527 universities in the world (last year it was submitted 1396)", - the press service said.

It is specified that this year TSU again entered the 501-600 group and strengthened its positions in the quality of teaching and the volume and credibility of scientific activity by more than 20 points. Other indicators of the rankings remained in the same range: Citations (citation rate), International outlook (share of foreign students and teachers and international cooperation), Industry income (income received through practical application).
"The university is implementing a strategy of high-quality growth in priority areas of activity, paying special attention to the export of educational technologies. In particular, the universities of Tomsk and Irkutsk are currently connected to the platform of adaptive mathematics education Plario.ru, developed by TSU and Enbysis, and negotiations are underway with 20 universities in Russia", - is said in the statement.
In THE World University Rankings published in the fall of 2019, TSU was also in the 501-600 group among world universities and in the fifth place among Russian universities. TSU was also included in Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject in the areas of "Arts & Humanities", "Physical Sciences", "Life Sciences", "Clinical, Pre-clinical & Health" and "Engineering & Technology".
