TOMSK, Jul 7 – RIA Tomsk. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the meeting told President
Vladimir Putin about his working trip to Tomsk, in particular about the inter-university
campus project and his visit to the Research Library of Tomsk State University
(TSU), the meeting was video broadcasted on the RT television company website.
Earlier it was reported that the Chairman of the Government of the Russian
Federation Mikhail Mishustin visited Tomsk on July 6. He visited the lyceum
being built in the Northern Park (Severny Park), Tomsk Special Economic Zone,
where he met with its residents, and Tomsk State University, where, among other
things, he announced the allocation of 18 billion rubles from the state budget
for the construction of an inter-university campus on the left bank of the Tom
River until 2024.
On Wednesday, Putin held a meeting with members of the government via video
conference.
"Another world-class campus will be created in Tomsk on the basis of
Tomsk's main universities – this is State University, University of Control
Systems and Radioelectronics, Polytechnic, Architecture and Building and
Medical universities," Mishustin told the president.
He added that he also visited the TSU Research Library, where he was
presented with valuable books from various eras, including the first lifetime
edition of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin".
"And students, were asking questions on the "Pushkin card"
... Students took the idea very positively, they are very excited about the
opportunity to go to museums, theaters, more often to visit exhibitions and
other cultural events. The students are looking forward to being able to use
the card, waiting for our experiment. And in general, we have very active
students in the country," Mishustin said.
As Izvestia reported, Putin previously spoke about the initiative to create
a "Pushkin card" by which young people aged 14 to 22 years old will
be able to visit cultural institutions. It is expected that it will be possible
to use the card from September to December 2021, as well as next year. The
state will provide financial means. Thus, for four months will be granted 3
thousand rubles.
Earlier it was reported that in 2019, the regional administration, VEB.RF
and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education agreed on the implementation
in Tomsk of a pilot project for the construction of an inter-university campus
within the framework of the "Education" national project. It is
planned to be located on the left bank of the Tom River. The campus will be
able to accommodate 20 thousand students and will be a joint facility of
universities of the Big University of Tomsk.
