Tomsk. Siberian
State Medical University (SSMU) has applied for participation in the new
support program of the Minobrnauki Priority 2030; at the defense of its
application, representatives said that Tomsk Medical University intends to
become the largest network hub for medical technology development in the
country, Rector Evgeny Kulikov said.
As it was
reported earlier, in 2021, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the
Russian Federation will launch the program for the support of higher
educational institutions called Priority 2030. In the first stage, 120
universities will be selected to receive additional funding to improve their
competitiveness.
"The SSMU
team has just defended its development program under the Priority 2030 program
in Moscow. Within the framework of the development program, SSMU has ambitious
goals of becoming a world-class university, the country's largest network hub
for the development and implementation of medical technologies", Kulikov
wrote.
He added that
another goal of the university is to become a university whose students are
already capable of changing the country's healthcare system for the better
during their studies.
"The
essence of our report is changes in the university to form a healthy society.
Our interests are the interests and needs of the industry, and we will change
together," SSMU Rector emphasized.
As previously
reported, apart from SSMU, four other Tomsk universities applied for
participation in the program: Classical University (TSU), Polytechnic University
(TPU), State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) and
State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB). Their applications
include 17 key areas, in the development of which the universities intend to
use each other's potential. The defense of the applications by TSU and TPU took
place on September 11.
