TOMSK, Nov 8 – RIA Tomsk.
Almost five thousand foreign tourists entered the Tomsk region in the
first half of 2021, which is twice as much as in the whole year 2020;
most travelers come from Germany, Great Britain and Italy, a specialist
of the regional economy department told RIA Tomsk in response to the
respective enquiry.
According to the department, which
also refers to information from the Migration Department of the Ministry
of the Interior, 2,216 tourists from other countries visited the Tomsk
region in 2020, accounting for 2% of the region's total tourist flow.
"In
the first quarter of 2021, 1,260 foreigners entered the region, 3,718 –
in the second quarter. The top 10 countries of tourist arrivals in the
region include China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Italy,
Japan, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom", – says the
report.
It is underlined that 70% of all tourist flow to
the region are tourists from regions of the Siberian Federal District,
also a significant number of guests arrive from Central Russian cities
(Moscow, Saint-Petersburg). It is noted that the share of foreigners in
the tourist flow now increases, the federal and regional authorities
introduce measures to attract them.
In particular, it was
reported earlier that the Governor of the Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin
signed an agreement with the heads of Siberian regions concerning
development of a joint tourism investment project. This project may get
federal co-financing, it is needed to develop tourist infrastructure in
Siberia and create comfortable conditions for travellers.
