TOMSK, Oct 22 – RIA Tomsk. The first students from the East African state Djibouti arrived to Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) for studying of Russian, the press service of the higher education institution reports.

It was reported earlier that two Tomsk higher education institutions – TSU and TPU – were included into the state program of support of higher education institutions on the way to world TOP 100. It is necessary for them for achievement of the purpose, among other, to attract foreign students. The number of foreign students made 23,2% of polytechnicians in 2014 in TPU. Within five years the university carries out the program of adaptation of foreign students, training them in Russian and helping to adapt to life in Russia.

"Students from the East African state Djibouti arrived to Tomsk Polytechnic University for the first time. Here they will learn Russian within preparatory department of the Institute of the international education and language communication of the higher education institution and to get acquainted with local culture", – it is told in the message.

It is noted that students from Djibouti – Liban Kamil Yasin and Mohamed Elmi Migane – already graduated in their country and decided to continue training in Russia. Students plan to spend a year in Tomsk, after the termination of a preparatory course in TPU they want to go to study to Novosibirsk.

According to the press service, young people hope not only to get a prestigious education, but also to see snow and to experience themselves what is a real Siberian winter. Foreign students promise to acquaint residents of Tomsk with culture of Djibouti. According to them, for some weeks, they carried out in Tomsk, they managed to recognize residents made favorable impression.

"It is pleasant to us to be in Tomsk, we didn't expect that people are such open and friendly in relation to us. Still Tomsk seemed to us a quiet and peaceful city", – students noted. Students more than from 40 different countries of the world study in TPU in total. Among them are citizens of Algeria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Mongolia, the USA, Thailand, Chile and other countries.

Founded in 1896, Tomsk Polytechnic University is the oldest technical college in Asian part of Russia. According to the last national rating researches, TPU is included in the first top ten higher education institutions of Russia. There are 11 scientific and educational and educational institutes, 97 departments in TPU. For more than century history the university trained over 160 thousand experts.
