TOMSK, Oct 23 – RIA Tomsk. Council for development and globalization of "Rosatom" approved the project on creation of production of pigmentary titanium dioxide on JSC Siberian Chemical Plant on the basis of the fluoride technology of receiving this substance developed in Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), the corporate edition of the enterprise "Modern times" reports.
It was reported earlier that TPU scientists developed cheap domestic technology of receiving of titanium dioxide – substance which is a basis of white paint, various dyes, including food. It is used in production of paints and varnishes, plastic, laminated paper. Titanium dioxide isn't made in Russia, according to SCP.

"The project is aimed on creation of import-substituting production of pigmentary titanium dioxide with a productivity of 20 thousand tons per year on an ilmenite concentrate. According to the decision of council for development and globalization of Rosatom, the branch invests 3,6 million rubles on creation of product samples and carrying out market research", – writes the edition.
It is supposed that as a result of implementation of the project 45 workplaces will be organized by 2020. At the moment SCP prepares prototypes of production which will be sent to potential consumers in various industries.
"SCP needs to receive confirmation that the made titanium dioxide meets the requirements of potential customers for quality and consumer properties. Then the project will enter a stage of creation of trial installation on SCP platform", – it is noted in material.
The head of the enterprise Sergey Tochilin reported that pilot production of 2-3 tons can be organized for 30 million rubles. Tuganskoye ilmenite-zirconium field near Tomsk will form a source of raw materials.
