TOMSK, Dec 1 – RIA Tomsk. The company "Tomsk flax" made a pilot lot of biomats – a special covering which keeps the soil from destruction and accelerates growth of a grass at restoration of the soil, the press service of the regional administration reported on Tuesday.
"The enterprise released a batch of innovative production of flax fibers – biomats intended for restoration of a vegetable soil on the recultivared sites. The new production is made in the experimental mode, the company intends to adjust full-scale release of biomats after installation of the equipment line in 2016-2017", – it is told in the message.
Yury Katyuk, the head of the Tomsk Flax company, specified RIA Tomsk that the biomats represent a linen cloth in which there are seeds of perennial plants with fertilizers. When interacting with the soil the biomat decays over time and feeds the soil, and herbs, sprouting, strengthen soil. It is possible to use biomats for restoration of a vegetable cover after laying water, oil and gas pipelines, at a construction of roads and for prevention of a soil erosion.

According to Katyuk, specialists of the company weaved 30 rolls of a covering for an experiment. At the moment the enterprise certifies the biomats and thinks over a production line which cost, by estimation, will make from 10 to 50 million rubles.
The head of the company noted that the project on production of biomats is import-substituting, now there aren't enough producers in Russia working in this direction. "There are two-three enterprises in Udmurtia, they are central in Russia. (They produce it) of their own flax and if it isn't enough, they also buy it. But they generally use not flax, but jute. It is delivered from abroad and is close to flax", – Katyuk explained.
He also added that Tomsk biomats in comparison with artificial and foreign analogs will be cheaper. "The price will be from 90 to 110 rubles for square meter of (Tomsk) biomat. Artificial (analogs) cost to 150 rubles. Besides depending on density of the material the price is higher, if it has more than raw materials – seeds and so on, and it, naturally, is more expensive", – Katyuk specified.
