TOMSK, Dec 14 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) and Brunel University London offered new "recipe" of production of easier and stronger alloys for shipbuilding and space branch, the press service of the Tomsk higher education institution reported on Monday.

According to the higher education institution, scientists of TSU laboratories of high-energy and special materials together with colleagues from Brunel University select optimum structures of alloys and composites with nanoparticles to improve physicomechanical properties of materials. Complexity is that the micro and nanoparticles have bad wettability with liquid metal, and they are inclined to adhesion because of the small size.

"It was succeeded to find essentially new solution of this problem. They add refractory particles to a special ligature; influence it with a shock wave. Very dense aluminum bar with the concentrated maintenance of nanoparticles possessing the necessary properties is got as a result," – the higher education institution reports.

It is specified that the new way allows to increase strength characteristics of easy alloys by 20-25%. Thus, other properties of metal, for example, its heat conductivity are improved.

"Mathematical modeling of the processes proceeding at production of ligatures and composite alloys will help to reduce terms of work and to define what combinations of particles are optimum for production of new materials", – the associate professor of TSU Elizabeth Pikushchak is quoted. It is added that the alloys can be used in shipbuilding, electrical equipment, space and other branches.

According to the higher education institution, the works are conducted within the program "Research and development on priority directions of scientific-technological complex of Russia for 2014-2020". The project will last until the end of 2016. Besides, TSU participates in the international project "Physical Processing of Easy Alloys at External Influences" together with Brunel University.
