Scientists of Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics
(TUSUR) got 5,5 million rubles grant for development of a program
complex of speech recovery for cancer patients, who had a surgical
intervention, the work will be realized together with scientists of SRI
of oncology, the press service of the HEI.
It
is noted, that within the new project restoration of speech function
for cancer patients, who recovered the voice after surgery. It is
planned, that the software will be ready by the end of 2018, and the
Tomsk development will be used in any cancer institution in Russia and
abroad.
"Algorithmic
and software, allowing to estimate the efficiency of restoration of
speech function, to receive higher rates of legibility of patient speech
for significantly short terms in comparison with known techniques, will
be developed. The hardware-software complex will have a convenient
interface, it can be installed on any computer", – it is told in the
message.

It was
reported earlier, that TUSUR and scientific research institute of
oncology scientists started developing the program complex, which will
allow physicians to restore a voice of the patients, who had a surgery
on removal of a throat.
"The
developed technique will allow to reduce number of the patients,
recognized as disabled by the underlying disease, to return to work
people of working-age, to improve social adaptation and quality of life
of the patients considerably, but probably the speech won't be restored
completely, there is still no measure to compare it to a standard", –
the executive of the project, the associate professor of the TUSUR chair
of complex information security of electronic computing systems Evgeny
Kostyuchenko explained.
It
is added in the message of the press service of the higher education
institution that patients need from two to four months for
rehabilitation after mouth surgeries and the efficiency does not exceed
70%. The Tomsk technique will reduce the period of speech rehabilitation
till 30 days.
