Master-2016: new programs and rules of entering Tomsk universities

TOMSK, Apr 29 – RIA Tomsk. Admission campaign-2016 in Tomsk universities promises to be saturated not only for entrants, but also for the bachelors wishing to continue education within the Bologna system: in universities  of Tomsk this year will open new educational programs including international ones. Tomsk State University

The number of the budgetary places of master program in Tomsk State University this year has increased on 250, all of them will be about one thousand. It should be noted that in recent years the university places particular emphasis on development of interdisciplinary programs of training.

"Last year as the pilot project we have started three master programs, this year it's already seven. I will explain, interdisciplinary programs – are special, they are created not at the faculty, but on the basis of laboratories, the educational centers, they aren't connected directly with any specialty and combine several directions of scientific activity, disciplines", – the head of a selection committee of TSU Evgeny Pavlov has explained.

It is about "Data mining and bioinformatics" (a joint program of the Biological Institute (BI) and faculty of applied mathematics and cybernetics (FAMC), "Transmitting chemical and biochemical technologies" (department of chemistry and BI), the program of studying of Siberia and the Arctic – the direction which includes complex studying of the district from the point of view of the most different disciplines – from culture to geology.

The fourth program – "Development of the person: genetics, neuroscience and technology" (interdisciplinary with BI, faculty of psychology and others), "The Siberian region in Russia and in the world – regional studies in Russia", "Digital technologies in socio-humanistic practicians" and others.

According to Pavlov, in addition, now in TSU there are more than 100 classical master programs attached to one direction – work at faculties and departments.

Two birds with one stone ...

"In recent years TSU places emphasis also on network educational the double degree programs. Now in the university are created 14 programs of coeducation with foreign higher education institutions", – Pavlov added.

Traditional partners of the university – are Holland (Maastricht University), France (University of Rouen, National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts), Belgium (Free University of Brussels), Portugal (University of Coimbra), and also universities of Israel, England, Norway and others.

"Also we have recently started a joint program with the Pavlodar university of Kazakhstan for information processes and systems", – he has added.

About regulations of admission

There are no key changes in the rules of admission to master programs TSU has happened over the last year.

"This year, as well as always, master programs can enter both graduates of a bachelor degree, and experts, not all, but only those who graduated from the university before transition to the Bologna system. And there is no binding to any concrete direction, graduates of History Faculty or Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics can arrive, on condition of successful passing of examinations, on the program of training of any faculty or the interdisciplinary program", – Pavlov noted.

Polytechnic University

Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) conducts training of undergraduates in 34 directions among which both interdisciplinary programs of preparation, and traditional, classical – on faculties and the main directions.

In 2016 in TPU will be opened 1,2 thousand budgetary places on master programs, that is 90 more, than the previous year.

"For the first time we will open a set to the budget places on the master's directions "Land Management and Inventories", and also "Design". There is also a number of opportunities for training in programs of double degree abroad, a number of unique educational programs together with higher education institutions of the Czech Republic, Germany, France and other countries is created now", – the head of the master programs department of TPU Alexander Pak explained.

Now the university cooperates with Technical University of Munich, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Czech Technical University in Prague, University of Orléans and Joseph Fourier University (France), Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh and Newcastle University (Great Britain), and also Karaganda State Technical University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan).

Also in TPU there is a number of unique joint educational programs, among them the "Nuclear medicine" realized together with SibSMU, and "Management of the modes of electrical power systems" created together with the industrial partner of JSC "System Operator of the Unified Energy System".

New items in the rules of admission

TPU this year passes to the Standardized examination for competitive selection of candidates for postgraduate programs at TPU, which is carried out in electronic form. On the same electronic platform also will be held the competition "Break" for entering the master course .

Testings within the frameworks of "Break" are held from April 16 to April 30. "Results of the competition will be considered at receipt: winners can arrive on the budgetary places without examinations. This year about 2,7 thousand people from 228 cities of Russia and CIS will take part in "Break"", – Pak added.

Pedagogical University

Tomsk State Pedagogical University (TSPU) has now 38 master programs (for internal office – 29, for correspondence students – 9). In total for masters programs in the university this year are 470 budgetary places, from them for internal office – 320, for correspondence – 150. Generally it the directions of a pedagogical profile developing pedagogical competences and knowledge of a certain subject.

The international activity also develops in TSPU – there are double degree programs, which the university  realizes since 2011. Now joint educational activity is conducted with the Polish and Mongolian higher education institutions.

"We actively work with University of Wrocław (Poland) for the master programs "Philological Education" and "Pedagogical Education (Cultural linguistics)". And also with the Mongolian State University of Agriculture – with it we have open program of a bachelor degree for the direction "Information Systems" and "Information Technologies in Education", – the representative of the international department of the university told.

TUSUR

This year in Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) 349 budgetary places will be opened for master programs. No changes in standard master programs have happened.

As for the international activity of higher education institution, this year the list of the master Double degree programs (the double diploma) was replenished with a new educational program with Limoges university (France) in the "Infocommunication Technologies and Communication Systems" direction ("Automation of inhabited space for physically disabled people of health").

"This program is urged to train the experts capable to use the last achievements in the field of information technologies and telecommunications for ensuring worthy quality of life and comfortable accommodation in completely automated houses for the people having a specific need owing to age or features of health", – have explained in the international department of higher education institution.

The program is calculated on two years, one of which students will carry out in France, and upon termination of besides master diploma of TUSUR will gain also the diploma of Limoges university.

In addition, for several years TUSUR realizes an educational program with one more French university – the European Institute of Innovation & Technology for the Information Technologies direction.

"European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EPITECH) is one of the leading private higher education institutions of France, propagandizing and successfully applying the practice-oriented engineering education. The institute trains bachelors and masters according to the wide list of specialties in the field of innovative information technologies", – have told RIA Tomsk in TUSUR.

According to higher education institution, within this direction the students who have passed competitive selection will be able to be trained free of charge and upon termination of together with the Tomsk diploma to receive also the document on the termination of a bachelor degree EPITECH.

Also for the last several years in TUSUR work some more international directions among which, for example, a joint program of "Business Management" with the State University of New York (USA) and "Computer Engineering" with Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto).

Within the "japanese" program TUSUR students have an opportunity to be trained within a year at Ritsumeikan University and on condition of successful development of all educational program to gain two diplomas about the higher education – the master TUSUR and the master of engineering sciences Ritsumeikan.

"According to the reached agreements TUSUR students, trained according to this program, are exempted from payment for training in the accepting higher education institution and acquire the right for priority placement in one of hostels of the Japanese university", – the employee of higher education institution added.
