TOMSK, May 25 – RIA Tomsk. The
Tomsk region could cooperate with Estonia in respect of experience exchange on
preservation of monuments of wooden architecture, and also in the sphere of the
higher education and culture, the head of the region Sergey Zhvachkin reported
at the meeting with Estonian ambassador Arti Hilpus.
The ambassador of Estonia
works in Tomsk on May 24-27. Meeting with the head of the region, visit higher
education institutions and museums of Tomsk, and also a trip to the Estonian
villages of Beryozovka and Liliyengofk are in the program of his visit.
"Our pride is historical
Tomsk. People call our city the Siberian Athens and therefore that there are a
strong education and monuments of architecture. I accepted delegation of
architects from Tallinn, we have agreed about further cooperation. You have a
wide experience on preservation of wooden architecture. We are ready to use the
experience", – Zhvachkin told.

According to him, the Tomsk
authorities also support exchange of experience on creation and development of
systems of the electronic government – the online services supporting work of
administration and state institutions. Besides, they hope for cooperation in
the sphere of the higher education. Also, according to the governor, development
of cultural ties is possible.
"Tomsk was the capital of
Siberia for 250 years, we have a multinational structure – 120 nationalities,
including Estonians. <…> Within the visit you will see Beryozovka, we
celebrate Jani (Estonian holiday), on June 23 for about 25 years there. You
will see the preparation there. <…> We have remarkable holidays – axe
Holiday, Etudes of the North. Come", - the governor invited.
In turn Hilpus thanked the
Tomsk governor for a highly topical program and an opportunity to visit the
Estonian villages. "For me it is the first visit of such scale in Russia –
I have arrived to Moscow only in September of last year. <…> It is
necessary to communicate with all regions of Russia. It is the first time for
me in Tomsk and in Siberia. One of main goals is a meeting with our fellow
countrymen living in the Tomsk region", – he noted.
