© РИА Томск. Павел Стефанский TOMSK, Dec 19 – RIA Tomsk. The team of students of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) reached the final of the student's World Cup in ACM ICPC programming, the press service of the higher education institution reported on Monday.
According to TPU, the programming World Cup among national teams of higher
educational institutions (ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, ACM
ICPC) is held since 1977. The scheme of the organization of the championship
includes three stages: subregional (quarterfinal), regional (semi-final) and
final.
"Students (TPU) reached the final of the largest student's team
championship of the world on ACM ICPC programming. The TPU team was included in
the list of 17 strongest teams of universities of the Northeast European
region. Children combated 268 teams from Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Armenia and Azerbaijan for
getting into the final", – it is said in the message.

It is added that Tomsk Polytechnic University will be presented by students
of the Institute of Cybernetics (IC) of the higher education institution:
Alexey Vetrov, Olesya Golub and Nikolay Kuzivanov. They should compete in
skills of programming with champions from other countries. The final of the
championship will take place on May 24, 2017 in Rapid City (USA).
It is noted that the assistant of the Department of Information Systems and
technologies Pavel Haustov who entered TOP-200 programmers of the world
(according to the Codeforce project) trained the team of the university and he
was repeatedly invited to work in such IT corporations as Google.
"I started to work with children when they still were school students.
It was clear that they have a good potential, but it was required the whole
four years to achieve such result", – the press service quotes Haustov.
