Additive Technologies (CAT) opened in the special economic zone (SEZ)
"Tomsk"; it will allow the innovative companies to make cheap
prototypes of production for testings, the correspondent of RIA Tomsk tells.
"Creation of such center gives the chance to accelerate production of
hi-tech production with the smallest expenses. This platform – is the first
which is created as the center of collective use, it can unite results of work
of many companies which are in a cluster and beyond its limits", – the
deputy governor on scientific educational complex and innovative policy Mikhail
Sonkin said at the opening of the center.
The head of the Tomsk regional engineering center on the basis of which CAT was
started, Oleg Torosh told journalists that the center is equipped with the
machinery for 3D-printing and 3D-scannings. Participants of an innovative
cluster who want to bring their production to the market can address to the
center to make product models on which then it is possible to carry out tests.
Torosh has explained that the purchased equipment will allow to do prototypes
of products, spending at the same time much less means.

"For example, the medical device was invented: it was drawn on the
computer, but it is unclear whether it will be conveniently for surgeon to hold
it. For this purpose it is necessary to manufacture the tool case, and to print
a compression mold by means of which the case will be manufactured, about 1,5
million rubles will be required. We can print the most exact detail with the
size, for example, 10Х5Х2 centimeters approximately for 500 rubles", – he
told.
According to him, 3D-printers and scanners were purchased with the federal
funds allocated by the Ministry of Economic Development. Total amount made
about 12 million rubles. Now the center already has five contracts for the sum
more than 100 thousand rubles for performance of work on 3D-modeling and
3D-prototyping. In total in 2017 it is planned to perform works in the amount
of not less than 4 million rubles.
