9 – RIA Tomsk. About 15% of the gross regional product (GRP) of the Tomsk
region for 2016 provide the research and educational complex (REC) and
innovative projects, the governor of the region Sergey Zhvachkin on the
presentation of the region in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia in
Moscow reported on Thursday.
The
governor noted that the Tomsk authorities tried to create worthy conditions for
development of hi-tech business: in the region the special economic zone of
technology development type and the industrial park works, the territory of the
advancing development in CATE Seversk prepares for opening.

"Every
year the share of hi-tech business grows in a gross regional product. And today
in Tomsk there are more than 100 exporting IT companies. We note the steady
growth of GRP, which following the results of last year exceeded 500 billion
rubles. We promote changes in structure of regional economy from raw to
knowledge-intensive. And now about 15% of GRP are provided by science and
innovations", – Zhvachkin told.
Speaking
about advantages of the Tomsk REC, the governor reminded that Tomsk – is the
student's capital of the country. Every third student – is nonresident, and
every sixth – is the foreigner. To get knowledge young people from 60 countries
of the world – from the United States and Venezuela to Congo and Zimbabwe go to
Tomsk.
Earlier it
was reported that the amount of financing of REC of the Tomsk region in 2016
exceeded 25 billion rubles, about 11 billion of them made investments into
researches and developments, into fundamental science.
