TOMSK, Mar 12 – RIA Tomsk. Mass free online course of Tomsk Polytechnic University Introduction to Petroleum Engineering starts on Monday, March 13; listeners will receive privileges for admission to the joint master programs of TPU and the British Heriot-Watt University, the press service of the university reports.
It is noted that the online course was developed by specialists of the Center of preparation and retraining of experts of oil and gas business Petroleum Learning Centre and TPU E-learning Institute with financial support of PJSC Gazprom. Young specialists of oil branch and the non-core specialties accompanying oil production process and also school students and students can take a course.
"The master program of Heriot-Watt allows to get a job in the leading oil and gas companies of the world, students of the program annually undergo geological practice in Spain. <…> A competition in this program is very high therefore the additional privileges received as a result of passing of the online course can play a crucial role at admission", – the press service quotes the author of the course Lyubov Vorobyova.
It is noted that the online course will be trained in English. Registration is already open for participants, classes will begin on March, 13 and will last seven weeks. Those who will enter the MA course will gain the master diploma of Heriot-Watt university having the international status, the master diploma of Tomsk Polytechnic University and the diploma of professional retraining of TPU.
"Together with the lecturer participants of the course "Introduction to Petroleum Engineering" will visit the training ground of the oil and gas company and will be able to work in virtual laboratory. Besides, during the training participants will be offered to perform several tasks which will help them to set the gained knowledge", – is said in the message.
According to the press service of the university, in 2016 more than 2 thousand people from Russia, Germany, the USA, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Egypt, India, Pakistan and other countries became listeners of the course. Most of the students - are young people from 25 to 35 years old, working in the oil and gas industry or receiving education in this field, both as analysts of large foreign companies, and ordinary students.
