TOMSK, Apr 10 – RIA Tomsk. Chemists of Tomsk State University (TSU) created a new technique for hair analysis, thanks to which it is possible to identify a person's predisposition to certain diseases and determine the level of his intelligence, the press service of the university reports on Monday.

It is specified that the hair analysis is usually carried out with the help of solutions and expensive reagents. Scientists of the Department of Chemistry TSU proposed a new method - to burn the biosubstrate in a special chamber at a temperature of 400-450 degrees and study the ash residue of the hair, determining macro- and microelements and eliminating matrix influences. The method is more accurate and allows to determine the concentration of 30 chemical elements at once.

"This way allows to define concentration of vital minerals in a human body. Their imbalance leads to development of various diseases. The microelement analysis of a biosubstratum helps to reveal serious illnesses, and at successful combination of circumstances to prevent their development in patients from risk group", – TSU scientist Vladimir Otmakhov is quoted.

It is noted that the TSU method has already proved its efficiency. Scientists together with colleagues from Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) investigated hair of the patients who had an ischemic stroke. As a result, regularities in the variation of the elemental composition, in particular, an increased content of cadmium and lead, and decrease in zinc concentration were revealed.

Also it is reported that in other research scientists compared the IQ level (according to Ayzenk's test) and microelement structure of hair of 50 students of Department of Chemistry TSU. It turned out that the higher the level of intelligence, the lower the concentration of tin and cadmium in the body.

It is added that TSU scientists plan to continue work on a technique, and also to acquire the right to render new service to the population with issue of official protocols on the basis of which it will be possible to establish the element status of the person. Today such type of a research is available only to residents of the large Russian cities.
