21 – RIA Tomsk. IKEA transfer orders for the supply of birch timber from other
regions of the Russian Federation to the Tomsk LLC Sibirles (subsidiary of the Chinese company Song Yuan); the production volumes at the enterprise will
double, told reporters on Wednesday the deputy governor on agro-industrial
policy and nature management Andrey Knorr.
"Sibirles" does in a year 7 thousand cubic meters of veneer sheet and 30 thousand
"cubes" of lumber and half-finished product for IKEA, including
delivers to China for a furniture factory. Today (Chinese) co-investors are
planning to invest another 20 million dollars and in the next 2-3 years at
least to double the amount of output. Plus, IKEA transfers orders from the
Irkutsk region and other regions – everything related to birch products",
– Knorr said.

The deputy
governor noted that the share of birch forests in the Tomsk region reaches 38%
of the forest fund. At the same time this type of wood is one of the least
demanded.
He
specified that to expand the production, Sibirles should receive additional
sites for logging. Now they can be rented only through an auction, but the
company "prepares documents for recognition as the priority project,"
which will allow it to obtain sites for logging in a simplified manner.
The
subsidiary enterprise of the Chinese Song Yuan - LLC "Sibirles" –
works in the Tomsk region since 2006. The main activity of the company is the
production of sawn timber, mainly from birch. Together with partners from
China, it cooperates with the Swedish firm IKEA. Sibirles the first in the
Tomsk region received the certificate of FSC.
As the
director of Sibirles Alexander Novikov specified RIA Tomsk, now the company
delivers production only to IKEA.
