TOMSK, Sep 12 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) for the first time entered the rating of the world's best universities on graduates’ employment – QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2018, carried out by QS Quacquarelli Symonds research center TPU is in the group 301-500 and is the only Tomsk university in the rating, the press service of TPU reported on Tuesday.
It is specified that in total QS, in addition to TPU, entered 11 Russian universities, including Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, MGIMO and Higher School of Economics. Leading positions in the ranking are held by American universities: Stanford University, University of California, Los Angeles and Harvard University.
"QS Quacquarelli Symonds published the ranking of the world's best universities on the employment of graduates – QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2018. <...> Tomsk Polytechnic University for the first time entered this list (group 301-500 place) and became the only Tomsk university in the ranking", – is said in the statement.
According to the rector Petr Chubik, who is quoted in the message, the place in the authoritative rating TPU ensured by system work with large corporations – potential employers.
"This year we received more than 2500 applications from various enterprises with the invitation of our graduates to work. As practice shows, year after year the demand for graduates of TPU exceeds the number of graduates by 1.5 and more times. <...> TPU relies on cooperation with the largest state corporations, we are successfully implementing projects with Gazprom, Rosatom, Roskosmos and others", – Chubik noted.
It is specified that QS experts analyzed data on 500 universities of the world. The university rating was determined on the basis of five indicators: "Reputation among employers", "Professional achievements of graduates", "Partnership with employers", "Participation of employer representatives in the life of the university" and "Employment after graduation".
