and coastal rowing resident of Tomsk Olga Halaleeva together with workmate from
St. Petersburg won first place in the coastal rowing World Cup in France, the
press service of department on youth policy, physical culture and sport of the
Tomsk region reports on Monday.
It is specified that the World Cup
took place in the French city of Thonon-les-Bains from October 12 to October
15. The resident of Tomsk Olga Halaleeva together with Yulia Volgina from St.
Petersburg performed in class of the female pair. There are 35 teams in total
in this class, including from Denmark, the Czech Republic, France, Greece and
Great Britain. Competitions took place on Lake Geneva.
"First place in the
championship was won by the Russian crew of Olga Halaleeva and Yulia Volgina.
They finished with result 28:49:78. Frenchwomen (29:16:14) got the second
place, sportswomen from Spain became the third (30:00:07)", – it is said
in the statement.
It is noted that the coastal rowing
belongs to non-Olympic sports, and the championship is the highest level of
competitions in this sport in the world.
"Here athletes have heavier and
steady boats. And the Tomsk sportswoman got the first place in the world, a
student of team of coaches of department of sports improvement of TUSUR and the
Tomsk Olympic Reserve School," – one of Olga's trainers, the honored
trainer of RSFSR Anatoly Ivanov is quoted.
It is added that Olga Halaleeva is
the six-time champion of Russia in rowing, the champion of the Russian
Federation in coastal rowing, the owner of the Russian Cup, the Master of
Sports and the acting member of Russian national team in rowing. She is a graduate
student of humanitarian faculty of TUSUR.
