TOMSK, Oct 30 – RIA Tomsk. Board of trustees of Tomsk branch
of Russian Geographical Society (RGS) sends 7,5 million rubles to projects on
promoting of geography of Siberia, study of local lore and sphere of internal
tourism in 2018; festival devoted to 70 anniversary of regional branch will be
the largest action, chairman of Tomsk brach Eduard Galazhinsky reported.
Earlier it was reported that the
Tomsk regional branch of the RGS develops several projects in 2017 among which
studying of Vasyugan Plain, school for paratravellers, routes in places of life
of starets Fyodor and on the way of the expedition of the Tomsk Cossack Ivan
Petlin to China, creation of a tourist route "Golden Ring of the Tomsk
region" and also a cycle of telecasts-teletravel across the region and
photo contest "We learn the Tomsk region".
"We will develop projects on
promoting of the native land, the project connected with a route of Cossack
Ivan Petlin (the first Russian mission to China), projects-travels for
physically challenged citizens, a route "Golden Ring of the Tomsk
region" and festival in honor of the 70 anniversary (of the regional
branch) of the RGS... The budget on the projects in 2018 is 7,5 million
rubles", – Galazhinsky told.
He specified that the festival of
the 70 anniversary of the regional branch of the RGS will become the most
large-scale action of society in Tomsk in 2018. As the deputy head of the Tomsk
branch Evgeny Kowalewski noted, a series of exhibitions will take place within
the festival, opening of the avenue of the RGS in the University grove,
meetings with great travelers, 50 public lectures on history, geography and
ecology of Siberia.
"The festival will be
large-scale and capture literally all Tomsk and also the regional centers of
the region for several days... The general budget of the festival is about 2,5
million rubles", – Kowalewski told.

As follows from the presentation
materials presented to members of the board of trustees of the Tomsk branch of
the RGS, the general budget of all projects of the branch will make 23 million
rubles in 2018. The council will allocate 7,5 million from them, organizers
expect to receive other funds from sponsors and partners.
"Any business starts with
small, and those sums which we undertake the obligation to provide – 7,5
million are the beginning for development of the projects... I suggest to
continue this policy, to undertake small financial obligations that authors of
the project had an opportunity to work and raise third-party funds", – the
governor Sergey Zhvachkin noted on the presentation of the report of the Tomsk
branch of the RGS.
The Tomsk branch of the RGS was
organized in 1948. Its main objective is promoting of knowledge of various
regions of Russia and the abroad. Besides, the society supports various expeditions.
The board of trustees of the branch is headed by the governor of the Tomsk
region Sergey Zhvachkin.
