RIA Tomsk. Scientists
of Engineering Chemical Technological Сenter of Tomsk State University (ECTС TSU)
produced the first batch of ash bricks and on Monday, January 22, sent it to
the foreign customer, which wants to build
a plant based on Tomsk technology, the director of ECTС TSU Alexey
Knyazev told RIA Tomsk.
"The customer
– is a large foreign company, whose name I can not yet disclose – sent us samples of ash, we made bricks from it and today we sent it.
The task was set for us: to work out the technology for building the plant on
their territory and in the long term to help them to run it", – said
Knyazev.

He specified that
there is no specific innovative idea at the basis of the technology:
Engineering Chemical Technological Сenter, as the engineering company, gathered the competences of various
scientific teams and proposed ready solutions for the organization of
processing industries of various orientations.
"A lot of
research teams from Russia are involved in the topic of ash and slag
processing, but it does not reach the practical implementation. And tens of
millions of tons of ash in Russia are simply stored in trenches ... Meanwhile,
worldwide it is being recycled and man can earn on its processing. It is
possible to press it into bricks and blocks, to allocate unburnt coal, iron,
silicon, in some cases - even gold!" – Knyazev says.
He added that the engineers
of the Engineering Chemical Technological Сenter conducted a calculation of the economic efficiency of the ash and
slag processing on the example of the Reftinskaya and Verkhny Tagil GRES, which
operate on the coal of the Ekibastuz field of Kazakhstan. The annual volume of
ash and slag for processing - is 1 million tons. It turned out that the net
annual profit in the implementation of the project could reach 63.4 million
dollars, which is 2.5 times higher than the estimated total investment in it.
