TOMSK, Oct 15 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk airport will be renamed in
honor of a famous resident of Tomsk in December, 2018 within the "Great
Names of Russia" project; whose name it can be called, residents of the
region can offer, having written a letter to Civic chamber of the Tomsk region,
the chairman of the chamber Evgeny Choynzonov told on Monday to journalists.
Earlier it was reported that names of outstanding compatriots will be
appropriated to 45 Russian airports in 2018 within the national project
"Great Names of Russia". Names, which residents of the country will
choose during public vote, will add official names of the airports of the
international and federal importance. The Civic chamber of the region acts as
the project coordinator in the Tomsk region.
"We, residents of Tomsk, will define a name of the famous fellow
countryman which will be included into the name of our airport... From October
15 to October 21 the Civic chamber of the region will collect names of
applicants. We give these names to the Civic chamber of the Russian Federation
where the all-Russian list of applicants for vote will be created from October
22nd to October 28", – Choynzonov told at a press conference in the RIA
Tomsk media center.
He added that it is possible to give the offers concerning a name of an
applicant, having called Civic chamber of the Tomsk region or having written a
letter on an electronic box of the chamber. Total vote will take place from
November 1 to November 30 on the website of the "Great Names of
Russia" project. Its results will be published on December 5.
As the director of the Tomsk airport Roman Frolenko told journalists,
the legal name of the organization will not be changed, the new name will be announced
at plane landing in Tomsk for reference purposes only.
At the same time, Frolenko noted that during the reconstruction of the
airport terminal, which is scheduled for 2019-2020, the name of the famous
Tomsk resident is planned to "beat in the design of the terminal building".
