information and telecommunication systems of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU)
Nalin Jayakody works on implementation of grant projects on development of
effective algorithms 5G of communication and economic wireless carriers of
communication under water, the press service of the university reports on
Monday.
Earlier it was reported that 5G (fifthgeneration) is the fifth generation of
technologies of mobile communication with a huge speed of data transmission –
about 20 gigabits per second. Technologies 5G assume higher capacity in
comparison with technologies 4G that allows to provide big availability of
broadband mobile communication.
"(Professor) Jayakody is engaged in development of effective algorithms
of physical level for communication 5G. The project is financed by the Tomsk
Polytechnic University and the Ministry of Education and Science – the grant
makes 14 million rubles, the polytechnic plans to realize it by 2022", –
it is said in the statement.

Besides algorithms 5G, the scientist is engaged in studying of opportunities
of wireless communication for submersibles. He also received a grant of the
Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for these purposes.
"Underwater wireless communication … is commercially favorable to a
research of natural resources in the underwater environment. Its use in the
unexplored water environment is extremely problematic in comparison with land
wireless communication therefore we study these problems and we are focused on
development of the most favorable systems from the economic point of view in
the most difficult conditions", – the press service quotes Jayakody.
Besides, the scientist achieved a grant of the Ministry of Education and
Science of 4.5 million rubles on financing of researches of graduate students
of his team till 2021 and began to cooperate with prestigious European agency
Inclusive Radio Communications Networks (IRACON) on financing of the research
activity directed to support of researches of wireless communication, it is
noted in the message.
