to 2017; the volume of mining continued to decrease – this time by 5.4%, while
in the manufacturing industry there was an growth by 8.3% with the maximum rate
at woodworking – plus 32.6%, the Tomskstat press service reported on Thursday.

Earlier it was reported that by the end of 2017, mining in the Tomsk region
decreased, and the volume of the manufacturing industry increased relative to
2016. The maximum growth then showed the production of textiles - plus 32.5%.
The overall reduction in the industrial production index in the region was 0.9%
in a year before last.
According to the press service, in 2018 industrial enterprises of the Tomsk
region made products at 447.5 billion rubles, which is 18.2% more than the year
before in current prices. The growth of industrial production was 2%. In the total
amount, the leading position is occupied by mining operations – 224.2 billion
rubles. At the same time, production in this sector decreased by 5.4% compared
with 2017.
"In the processing industries, there was an increase in production by
8.3%. Production shipped by 177.5 billion rubles ... Among the significant
activities, the largest increase in production by 32.6% was observed in wood
processing and the production of wood and cork products", – is said in the
message.
It is added that the production of electrical equipment in 2018 increased
by 12.2%, food products – by 4.8%. A decrease by 0.9% occurred in the
production of chemicals and chemical products, by 3.2% – in the production of
coke and petroleum products. The power industry of the Tomsk region maintained
its position at the last year’s level.
