TOMSK, May 20 – RIA Tomsk. The team of the Tomsk region in the 50th Russian Finswimming
Championship take the third place in the team event; swimmers from the
Novosibirsk region take the first place, and Krasnoyarsk Krai representatives
take the second place, is reported on Monday on the website of the regional
Federation of Underwater Sport.
Earlier it was reported that on May 15-20, Tomsk for
the first time will take the Russian Finswimming Championship. The championship
mascot became a baby seal Nyrok (Dive), the jury has chosen its name from the
options sent by the Tomsk citizens.
According to the press service of the regional
department for youth policy, physical culture and sports, the competition has
already ended. The results of the performance of regional teams appeared on
Monday, May 20, on the website of the Tomsk regional Federation of Underwater
Sport.
"The team of the Novosibirsk region became the
winner of the team classification of the 50th Russian Finswimming
Championship", – is said in the statement. It clarifies that the
representatives of the team of the Novosibirsk region scored a total 1809
points. The second place is at athletes from Krasnoyarsk Krai (1740 points),
and the third place is – at the team of the Tomsk Region (1679 points).
As the head of the regional Federation of Underwater
Sport Natalya Grechikhina reported to RIA Tomsk, following the results of the
competition five Tomsk athletes passed to the world championship. "Five
people ... – is a lot. We have a good third place, we usually occupy the first,
the second, the third place (at the championships of the Russian
Federation)", – she commented on the result of the performance of the
Tomsk team.
Grechikhina added that the Tomsk citizens took the
first places in all disciplines in swimming in the monofin, but, unlike
athletes from other regions, they did not compete in double flippers category.
Double flippers - are all classic swimmers ... If we are talking about first
places, then we need good classic swimmers in Tomsk”, – she concluded.
According to the press service of the regional
department of youth policy, physical culture and sports, the most productive
swimmers in the team of the Tomsk region were Alena Parshina (five gold medals
and two silver) and Dmitry Zhurman (three silver and two bronze). In total,
nine Tomsk citizens won 19 medals (six gold, seven silver, six bronze).
