TOMSK, Jun 17 – RIA Tomsk. The
American Chemical Society included in its database the scientific journal of
Tomsk State University (TSU), thereby recognizing the status of the Faculty of
Chemistry of TSU as one of the leaders in the field of chemistry, the press
service of the university reported on Monday.
It is specified that the "Bulletin of Tomsk State
University. Chemistry" scientific journal in 2014 was allocated to the
independent periodical from the general scientific journal "Bulletin of
TSU". It is published quarterly and accepts publications on the structure
and properties of substances, chemical reactions and transformations of
solid-phase materials.
"Bulletin of Tomsk State University.
Chemistry" accepted in the database of Chemical Abstracts Service. This is
a database (DB) of the American Chemical Society and one of eight international
databases, the entry in which means the inclusion of a journal in the list of
the Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals ("VAK list")", –
is said in the statement.
It is added that the American Chemical Society – is
one of the leading international sources of scientific information in the field
of chemical sciences.

"Entering the database – is a recognizing the status
of the Faculty of Chemistry and our chemical school as one of the leaders in
the field of chemistry. Submitting abstracts of our articles to open access
through the American Chemical Society will expand our partner network and
present our results to the world professional chemical community", – the
professor of TSU Irina Kurzina is quoted in the message.
According to her, entering the Chemical Abstracts
Service database also leads to an increase in the QS-ratings of the university
in the direction of "Chemistry" and an increase in citation.
TSU and Tomsk Polytechnic University in 2013 entered
the "5-100" project, to the participants of which additional funding
to increase international competitiveness is allocated. The university’s entry
into the top 100 by subject ratings in world rankings is an important criterion
for the system of university assessment in this project. QS World Rankings are
considered to be one of the most prestigious for educational institutions. In
2019, TSU ranked high in the QS subject ranking, including in physics,
astronomy, chemistry, mechanics, and materials science.
