TOMSK, Jun 17 – RIA Tomsk. Freshmen of the Higher IT School (HITs) of Tomsk State University (TSU) are organizing the Dota 2 and Counter-Strike championships; thus, students from 10 countries pass the test for intercultural communication, the press service of the university reported on Monday
It is specified that the e-sports championship will take several days: qualification games (for individual teams) and quarter-finals will take place on June 19, and the semi-finals and finals will be held on June 22. Tournament participants will play Dota 2 and Counter-Strike.
"In this form, students from 10 countries pass the test on intercultural communication. During the preparation of the championship, future programmers acquire the soft skills needed in their professional activities – they learn to work in a team, overcome technical and organizational problems, take responsibility for accepted solutions", – is said in the statement.

According to the press service, the teams that will fight for the title of the best players included students of the TSU Higher IT School from Russia, Laos, USA, China, Singapore, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal and other countries. Second-year students of HITs, representatives of the Institute of Law of TSU, students of Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics and Siberian State Medical University will also take part in the tournament.
"The decision on the choice of games for the tournament was made on the basis of a vote. The choice was not only between games, but also between genres. For example, the strategy genre was refused due to the high duration", – one of the organizers Rufin Rafikov is quoted in the message.
In addition to the championship, first-year students of the Higher IT-School of TSU have to pass another test – the exam in the "Programming" course. For its passing it is necessary to create a computer game from scratch.
