TOMSK, Jul 15 - RIA Tomsk. The "Open University" Center at Tomsk State University (TSU) in conjunction with the International Association Of Universities Of The Third Age (AIUTA) plan to develop tourism for elderly people in Tomsk, also there are plans for excursions organizing across Siberia, the press service of the university said on Monday.
It is noted that AIUTA unites universities of Europe, Asia and America, which are engaged in educational activities for pensioners. TSU joined the association in 2016 and is still the only institution of higher education of the Russian Federation. As part of the community’s work, it is planned to organize tourist routes for older people in countries and cities that are its members.
According to the press service of the university, the prospects for the development of this area were discussed in China at the Second International Congress of Tourism for Elderly People, which was also attended by the leaders of the "Open University".
"I talked about the special historical role of Tomsk, including that it was recognized as the geophysical center of Eurasia. On the one hand, Tomsk - is a European-oriented educational center, and on the other - education is aimed at Asian culture studying. TSU accumulates both these directions, and this concept has interested colleagues", - the director of "Open University" Elena Novikova is quoted.
It is also noted that in addition to excursions of pensioners to the capital of the Tomsk region, the president of the AIUTA association François Vellas became interested in the prospects of organizing excursions across Siberia from Tomsk.
